In June 2023, a contract was signed with the City of Ploče and construction began on the “Reconstruction of the Sports and Recreation Zone Komin — the existing NK Gusar building, sports fields, and supporting facilities.” The project involves the redevelopment of the building’s interior and exterior spaces, as well as the surrounding area, to improve functionality, enhance quality, and introduce new opportunities for use.
As part of the planned works, a new artificial turf pitch has been installed with new foundation layers and drainage, extensions to the NK Gusar building have been removed, a new covered section has been built, exterior carpentry installed, and new flat roof layers completed. Work is currently ongoing inside the building, including new installations, the removal of the existing asphalt layer, raising of the terrain level, and construction of a parking area for 24 vehicles on the northern side of the site. A new multifunctional concrete sports field is also being built directly south of the parking lot and north of the main pitch, with new lighting installation included.
The scope of the project consists of two interconnected components: the reconstruction of the existing building and the landscaping and redevelopment of the surrounding area with new sports and supporting facilities.
